  1. I listened to Douglas Gresham speak a few months ago (he’s the son-in-law of Lewis), and he basically laughed off a question someone asked about this “Planet Narnia” book…he thought it to be absolutely ridiculous that Lewis constructed Narnia out of the seven medieval heavens.

  2. I wonder how the question was phrased which would elicit such a response. I respect Mr. Gresham, and such a knee-jerk response seems uncharacteristic of him, given the depth and breadth of his stepfather’s work. While Lewis may not have had this particular pattern in mind, a close reading of the text seems to reveal this particular pattern aligning with the structure of the medieval cosmos nonetheless. Anyway it makes for an intriguing and fresh way to look at the text, which offers more Narnia for the reader to sink his teeth into, and who could resist that?
